Regions Debate - Day 1

Great job on Day 1 of the debate, students. You presented strong cases and took good notes on your opponents' arguments and evidence. Study back over your notes and be formulating strategies you can use tomorrow during the cross examination phase of the debate. Each of us will be cross examined (questioned) by the other three, so be prepared to defend your own region and "attack" the other three. This is your assignment for tomorrow.

Pet Blessing - "Beautiful Texas" - Debate Preparation

• Attended the annual blessing of the pets
• Listened to an excellent student-made video to the tune of Willie Nelson's cover of "Beautiful Texas"

• Prepared PowerPoints for Monday's Debate: "Which of the four major regions of Texas is the best?"

• Be sure to finish taking textbook notes on the 11 sub-regions - I've noticed some of you haven't been keeping up with this.
• Have your PowerPoint and debate arguments ready to begin the debate shortly after class begins
• Slide 1: Title Page
• Slide 2: Your Region's Strengths
• Slide 3: How your region is better than one of the other regions
• Slide 4: How your region is better than another of the regions
• Slide 5 How your region is better than the last of the opposing regions
• You may have more than 5 slides if you wish.
• Be sure to include PICTURES illustrating your arguments.
• I look forward to hearing your arguments and debating with you (even though I got the region no one else wanted. Sniff. Don't worry, though. I plan to turn my lemon into grape juice.).
